ACCENT PIECES

Selecting mustard accent pieces is a great way to begin to introduce this trend to your home, especially if you’re not ready to commit to big ticket items like a sofa. Lampshades, scatter cushions, footstools and throws are all fantastic options, or alternatively select a mustard rug to bring your room to life.

VELVET TEXTURES

The rich opulence of mustard yellow goes hand in hand with plush velvet textures, and will add luxury to any space. Choose mustard velvet accent pieces like scatter cushions or even occasional chairs, or go bold with a mustard velvet sofa.

MIXING COLOURS

There’s no doubt that mustard is a bold shade, but it doesn’t have to be the only statement hue in your home. Yes, mustard looks fantastic with grey and can be used to brighten up neutral colour palettes, but it also works beautifully with a whole host of other colours as well – including dark blues, vivid teals, gorgeous greens, rich burgundies and pinks from baby through to berry! So mix it up and don’t be afraid to experiment!

PATTERNS

Mustard shades lend themselves beautifully to patterns both subtle and bold. Geometric prints are especially in vogue right now, and are a great way to bring mustard tones together with other colours – whether they be neutral or bold. Our Monroe sofa in the blue and mustard collection is a great example of this. If you’re not a fan of the geometric print then look for florals or polka dots with mustard shades instead.

OFF THE WALL

A mustard accent wall – whether it be a patterned wallpaper or bold block of colour - will add instant style to any room. But why not take it a step further by experimenting with different shapes for an even more striking look?

A mustard border around your fireplace, a painted radiator (or radiator cover) or even a ceiling height stencilled circle or hexagon against a simple white backdrop are all fantastic ways to make this stunning colour even more striking. Or, if you’re feeling really bold, spice up a neutral room with a statement mustard ceiling.
